Helen Whitcombe - Langport Triathlon

I Am A Cancer Survivor & I’m Proud To Be Supporting  S.U.R.E

On the 5th October 2011 I was diagnosed with oral cancer.

Unfortunately at this time Musgrove did not have the equipment to be able to treat my cancer without damaging large amounts of healthy tissue that surrounded my tumour.
I therefore travelled every weekday from 19th December to 31st January 2012 (excl Christmas Day & New Year’s Day) to Bristol Oncology Centre for Chemotherapy and Radiotherapy.
Whilst the level of care and treatment I received at Bristol was excellent, the daily travel and treatment left me totally exhausted.
At the end of the treatment in February 2012 I was admitted to Musgrove and spent 10 days in isolation as I had a white blood cell count of less than 1 and had no immunity to germs or bacteria.

I am now in remission, and I would like to show my support to S.U.R.E.  by completing the 20th Langport Triathlon on Sunday 22nd September 2013.

The triathlon consists of 3 Consecutive sporting events: 400m Swim, 22.5Km Cycle, 5 Km Run.
