On Saturday 27th June 2015 a family fun day was held at The Unit in Chard in memory of Jim Carter.
His daughter, Samantha Fooks (pictured left), wished to organise an event in his memory to mark the 10th year anniversary. She went on to organise the fun day which included local business stalls, bouncy castle, face painting, body zorbs, games, hook a duck, BBQ, Ice creams, a cake stall and a main raffle.
The weather held out and a good day was had by all that attended with a visit from Olaf too who entertained the children and big kids amongst them.
Carole Summerfield and Roy Hole came to represent S.U.R.E on the day and enjoyed some of the various cakes and Carole even won a prize on the raffle!
The raffle and cake stall was run by Samantha and her partner Sam Channing ran the hook a duck stall with 100% of takings going to the charity from these stalls.
Samantha's friends Emma Willoughby, Sian Trott and Amie Croucher (pictured), helped her run the stall.
The total amount raised on the day was an amazing £771.50.
The Unit provided £81.50 to this total from 50% sales from the bouncy castle and face painting takings. The rest was raised through the raffle, cakes, hook a duck and business stall donations.
Samantha handed over the cheque to SURE Treasurer Carole Summerfield.
Samantha wishes to thank everyone that attended the event and helped on the day. The total raised is fantastic and she knows her dad would be proud of what she achieved.
