The photo shows Alan Watkins and Peter Thomas from Queen’s College Taunton Lodge presenting a cheque for £2,500 to SURE Chairman Paul Alway.
Alan Watkins, current Master of the Queen's College Taunton lodge of Freemasons was moved to select S.U.R.E as the charity he wished to support with fundraising during his year in office as the result of first hand experience of the benefits of the charity through recent treatment of a close family member at Musgrove. He recalls how alarming it was to learn of the diagnosis but the prospect of having to travel daily to Bristol for the necessary treatment was daunting. What a fantastic relief to learn that as a result of public generosity, a charity 'the Somerset Unit for Radiotherapy Equipment' had purchased essential specialist equipment for The Beacon Centre at Musgrove Park Hospital making travel to Bristol unnecessary. Confidence was boosted by the knowledge that through The Beacon Centre, Musgrove Park Hospital had become a centre of excellence in the delivery of cancer treatments for the people of Somerset. It gave Alan a tangible way of saying 'thank you'.
Thank you to all members of Queen’s College Taunton Lodge for your generous support of SURE over the past year.
